Why does emdr work?

My Story – Why I Chose This Path

There was a time in my life when trauma felt like a second skin.

From childhood into adulthood, I moved through life carrying the weight of things I never asked for — emotional neglect, unstable relationships, broken trust, and moments I couldn’t even put into words. The kind of pain that makes you question your worth, your voice, and your future.

For years, I tried to keep going, convincing myself that time would heal everything. But time doesn’t heal what we don’t face. And no matter how hard I worked, prayed, or pushed forward — I kept finding myself back in the same emotional patterns, the same broken cycles, the same pain under new disguises.

It wasn’t until I began my own deep healing journey — through EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) — that I finally started to understand the roots of my trauma. EMDR didn’t just help me talk about what happened — it helped me process it, release it, and rewire the beliefs I had internalized for so long.

And that changed everything.

That healing became the turning point. I didn’t just want to survive anymore — I wanted to help other women truly live. Especially women like me — Muslim women who are strong on the outside but silently struggling on the inside.

That’s why I became an EMDR coach.
